The Norfolk Island Fire Service (NIFS) has several roles within the community, the most important and highest priority being prevention and mitigation of, and education about fires.
As a service provider, the NIFS provides:
- the Norfolk Island Regional Council Community Fire Service
- the Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS) to the Norfolk Island International Aerodrome
- active membership to the Emergency Management Norfolk Island Committee (EMNIC).
