The Norfolk Island Regional Council operates under the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW)(NI), this legislationrequires Councils to adopt and implement a Code of Conduct which incorporates the Model Code of Conduct set out by Local Government NSW.
The Code of Conduct document applies to Councillors, Council staff, independent conduct reviewers as well as members of Council's Committees. The document clearly sets out the requirement of Council officials in carrying out their duties.
The Norfolk Island Regional Council adopted their initial Code of Conduct at their first meeting on 6 July 2016, this document has since been reviewed and a new code of meeting practice has been implemented in 2020.
